biography:
HELLA COMET is a high energy level post-rock quartet from Graz / Austria who have released two albums: "Celebrate your Loss" (2010, Pumpkin, Schnapsidee) "Wild Honey" (2013, Noise appeal) and a 10inch (2011, Noise Appeal).
Their music is streaked with dense walls of guitar sounds and the ethereal vocals of bass player Lea Sonnek – the comparison with Sonic Youth is a common one and shoegaze elements are just as undeniable. But this doesn't quite describe it all: the quartet also draws inspiration from various post-rock acts of the 1990s, as can be deduced from song lengths beyond seven minutes and cunning drum beats. For years, Hella Comet have been developing their very own language - from well before their debut-album was released until the present day. 2014 will see their latest effort entitled "ttmmm" released on Interstellar Records.
